is a popular trekking route in the Himalayas. Thousands of trekkers visit this beautiful region of Nepal each year. The two week trek through the Sagarmatha National  Park to Everest Base Camp takes you to the land of Sherpa’s following in the footsteps of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary, Tilman and other pioneers of the Himalayas. The Everest Trek has been calling out to trekkers and climbers since the first expeditions to the Nepalese side of Everest took place in 1953. The trails that climb through the foothills of the world’s highest mountain offer some of the most spectacular scenery and challenging trekking in Nepal. The trail to Everest Base Camp has been extensively developed for trekking, with well maintained trails and plenty of guest houses.

The Solukhumbu Region is homeland to the Sherpa people whose  reputation for their excellent skills in trekking and climbing  mountains is recognized worldwide. The Buddhist monuments of the Sherpas, called Stupa’s, and Chorten’s and the Gompas (monasteries) mirror the towering landscape all around the Sagarmatha National Park, which is also  rich in flora and fauna, and rare species of animals, such as the Snow Leopard and the Lesser Panda.
To start the trek we will fly to Lukla, whose airstrip is not quite an hour’s flight from Kathmandu.

The trail to Everest Base Camp begins at Lukla, first gently decending to the village of  Phakding, and then following the Dudh Koshi valley before climbing steadily to Namche Bazaar, a large  bustling town of Sherpa People. During the first day we will pass through a number of small villages, interspersed with magnificent forests, moss covered groves of Rhododendron trees, (Laligurans, the national flower of Nepal) waterfalls, Magnolia trees and giant firs.

The trail ascends from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche through meadows where the beast of burden, the Yaks graze . Our trek will finally take us to the sandy plain of Gorak Shep, Here we will climb up amongst large boulders to the broad summit of Kalapathar (5,545m) Here you will discover mountain views known to be the most amazing on earth, they include Mt Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse as well as the fantastic views of the south west face of the colossal Mt. Everest. From here we will trek down to Everest Base Camp, at the foot of the famous Khumbu ice fall.

The Everest Base Camp Trek returns to Lukla for the flight to Kathmandu. Variations can be made to the return journey at your specific request.
